The Sante Nicolia Story
Nicolia Ready-Mix was founded in 1959 by Sante Nicolia — the only son of a farmer, born in Frosinone, Italy. Sante came to America by ship with nothing other than high aspirations.
The sacrifices he made on behalf of his family reflect the work ethic that shaped his success. But it was Sante’s charisma and modesty that built a loyal customer base — and his sons worked the business alongside him, the way the family still does today.
We've been building our communities' infrastructure since the start — the schools, the roads, the places Long Island works and lives. And we never forgot the single-family home foundations that put us on the map. That's still the first pour we say yes to.
Founded in Westbury
Sante Nicolia — the only son of a farmer from Frosinone, Italy — founds the company at the Westbury plant, supplying Long Island builders.
Union Transit Mix, Lindenhurst
The company acquires Union Transit Mix in Lindenhurst — today's corporate home and the seat of central dispatch.
East to Yaphank
Acquiring Twin Country Ready-Mix in Yaphank establishes an eastern Long Island presence.
Largest on Long Island
The Barton Ready-Mix acquisition in Island Park makes Nicolia the largest ready-mix supplier on Long Island.
Keyway Ready-Mix
Keyway Ready-Mix joins the network with two locations — St. James and Riverhead — formalizing the footprint the company operates today.
Lindenhurst Doubles
Plant capacity doubles at Lindenhurst with investment in a new central mix plant.
